WBC super bantamweight champion Leo Santa Cruz (28-0-1, 16KOs) would like to have a unification match before moving up the featherweight division, where he plans to pursue his third divisional crown.

Santa Cruz is slated to return on January 17th, as part of the Bermane Stiverne-Deontay Wilder undercard at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. No opponent has been named as of yet.

The featherweight division is very loaded at the moment. Santa Cruz says his debut at the weight could happen as early as May, against California rival Abner Mares.

"For me, I'd like to unify my title with one of the other champions - either Guillermo Rigondeaux (WBA and WBO), Carl Frampton (IBF) or Scott Quigg (WBA regular) before climbing to 126 pounds by the year's end [in 2015]. There are some very hard, real good opponents [at 126] like Jhonny González and Vasyl Lomachenko, and also Abner Mares who I'm supposed will fight in May. I want to face them, because I want to become a three division champion," Santa Cruz told ESPN Deportes
