Salka: If You Said 6 Months Ago I'd Get Garcia, I'd Laugh!

By Edward Chaykovsky

"Lightning" Rod Salka (19-3, 3KOs) has received the chance of a lifetime when he faces WBA/WBC junior welterweight champion Danny Garcia on Saturday night from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. The non-title ten round bout will headline a Showtime televised tripleheader.

Fans were stunned when Salka was announced as Garcia's opponent. Even Salka himself admits that he was shocked at the news of getting the opportunity to face Garcia.

"I'd have laughed with you if you told me six months ago I'd have this fight. But a lot of things happen over time in boxing and that's one of the beautiful things about it. You win some fights and catch a couple breaks and the opportunities open up," Salka said.
