There is a lot of talk regarding a potential fall rematch between WBO 130-pound belt-holder, Vasyl Lomachenko and Orlando Salido - who defeated the Ukrainian in his second pro outing in March of 2014 (when Salido held the WBO featherweight title but lost in on the scales as he was unable to make weight).
Lomachenko is coming off an impressive five round dismantling of Rocky Martinez back on June 11th. While Salido engaged in a back-and-forth classic against WBC super featherweight titlist, Francisco Vargas, that was ruled a draw on June 4th.
Are the two destined for another go-around versus each other?
Sean Gibbons, the adviser for Salido told BoxingScene.com in a recent interview,''Orlando Salido is back to the gym, doing a little light work. He's looking at November, he'd love to fight Lomachenko. But again, as Salido said many times - he needs to get paid. He got the win, he feels like he can beat Lomachenko, again. But his last four fights were 'fight of the year' - all four of them.
"There's more people to see Orlando Salido if we do the fight at the StubHub Center than Vasyl Lomachenko."
It seems as though that Salido and his team are not happy with the amount of money being offered to them by Top Rank.
"I believe they look at it, it's Orlando Salido, he doesn't mean anything, maybe they think they can get another like the the WBA champion,(Jason) Soso or (Jezreel) Corrales and they look at Salido like he's undeserving,'' Gibbons stated.
"So yeah I definitely think we're getting offered low. Maybe they owe Lomachenko too much per their contract but they need to find a way to help Salido out and he's more than happy to give Lomachenko a loss, again."
