WBO featherweight world champion Orlando "Siri" Salido (38-11-2, 26KOs) sends his congrats to WBC featherweight king Jhonny Gonzalez (52-7, 45KOs). After Gonzalez defeated Elio Rojas Saturday night, Salido called his promoter Fernando Beltran of Zanfer Promotions and told Fernando to make the fight.
In an earlier article on BoxingScene.com, Gonzalez called out Salido.
Salido believes the match will become a classic all-Mexico war, champion vs. champion, to solidify not only the best featherweight in Mexico but in the entire boxing world.
"This is a fight for the fans," said Salido. "Neither me or Johnny takes a backward step. It's a can't-miss action fight, the way I like it. "
However, Salido's preference is to challenge WBO 130-pound titleholder Adrien Broner.
"Making 126-pounds isn't easy for me," said Salido. "I'd much rather fight Broner, but if Adrien won't accept me as an opponent, then I would sacrifice again to make 126 against Gonzalez."
