Salido: I Will Be Better and Bring The Belt Back To Mexico

By Rene Umanzor

Orlando 'Siri' Salido, the former world featherweight champion of the World Boxing Organization (WBO), will try to regain the title against Orlando 'Phenomenon' Cruz on the 12th of October at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, on the undercard of the welterweight battle between Timothy Bradley and Juan Manuel Marquez. Salido lost the title to Mikey Garcia in January, but then Garcia lost the belt after failing to make weight for last month's fight with Juan Manuel Lopez. The WBO ordered Salido and Cruz to fight for the vacant belt.

"For me it is an honor to be included on that card, where the great champion Juan Manuel Marquez will look for a fifth world title. I feel very good, there is enough time to get in top condition, make a good preparation to reclaim and bring the title back to Mexico. I am excited about this new opportunity that I've received in the same year that I lost to Mikey. That motivates me to get back what's mine," Salido said.

"People will see a better Siri. I learn from my fights, the good and the bad that has happened, so they will get to see a 'Siri' Salido who is more focused, and better. My mission is to regain the title I lost, and I will do everything possible to accomplish that."
