According to promoter Hector Garcia of HG Boxing, negotiations are ongoing to finalize a rematch between IBF super featherweight champion Juan Carlos Salgado (26-1-1, 16KOs) and mandatory challenger Argenis Mendez (20-2, 10KOs). The target date is January 26th. The IBF ordered the rematch to take place by January 28. The rematch will happen in either Las Vegas or Los Angeles.

"We are negotiating the fight against Argenis for January 26. So far everything is good and everything could be closed in the coming weeks. The venue has not been set but it will take place in the United States. Juan Carlos already beat him once and we are positive that he will beat him again," Garcia said.

There goes Salgado's title (if he's gonna fight anywhere besides Mexico). This guy is a very mediocre fighter!
