Talented lightweight prospect Ryan 'Blue Chip' Martin has been added to the December 16th card at the Fantasy Springs in Indio, California, that is being staged by Golden Boy Promotions.
Timothy Van Newhouse, who manages the 23-year old who hails originally from Chattanooga, Tennessee, told BoxingScene.com:
"Ryan’s returned home from a 6 week training camp in Big Bear, California. Where he had great sparring with Alex Saucedo, Carson Jones and Dennis Shafikov. He’s in the best shape of his career right now and is looking forward to Dec 16th. An opponent has yet to be confirmed."
After being shelved for much of 2015 as he freed himself from SMS Promotions, he has performed three times this year heading into his next assignment.
"The Goal next year is to keep him as active as possible, get the most exposure and be in position to win a World title. If all goes well December 16th, the idea would to have him on GGG’s (Gennady Golovkin) next HBO date, hopefully that happens in March," said Van Newhouse, who has struck up a working relationship with Tom Loeffler, the managing director of K2 Promotions.
Van Newhouse stated - "There’s not a big rush to sign with a promoter at the moment. Tom is actively, helping me guide Ryan’s career and I’m sure were going to more than likely sign with him in the near future. The important thing is Ryan has a great team and he’s being provided a lot of unique opportunities. He needs to take advantage of the platforms he fights on and continue to impress the fans, media and networks. There’s a ton of young talent on that card in Indio, Ryan has to separate himself as an elite prospect and fight up to his full potential."
The card on December 16th features the light heavyweight contest between Vyachaslev Shabranskyy versus Sullivan Barrera and a junior welterweight bout between Antonio Orozco and Fidel Maldonado, which will be broadcast on HBO Latino.
