An agreement has been reached between the camps of WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Ruslan Chagaev (34-2-1, 21KOs) and mandatory challenger Lucas Browne (23-0, 20KOs).

The fight is being targeted for late February or early March in Grozny, according to Chagaev's promoter Timur Dugazaev.

The WBA had given both sides until the 30th of November to reach an agreement.

Chagaev won the belt in July 2014 in Grozny, by defeating Fres Oquendo in a very close fight. However, after several months of litigation Chagaev and Oquendo were ordered for a rematch, which was scheduled for October 17 in Kiel, Germany, but did not take place due to an injury to Oquendo.

"We agreed on the fight with Browne. It won't go to a purse bid. In a few days ago we're going to announce things. I can say that the fight will take place in late February or early March in Grozny," said Dugazaev.
