| Ruslan Chagaev To Face Sprott-Skelton Winner?
|
|
By Mark Vester According to overseas reports, unbeaten Ruslan Chagaev, who last weekend won the WBA heavyweight title from seven-foot Nikolai Valuev in Stuttgart, Germany, could possibly make the first defense of the title against the winner of the upcoming battle between UK rivals Matt Skelton and Michael Sprott, who fight on May 26 in London. Both UK fighters are coming off big wins. Skelton won a decision over Danny Williams a few months ago, while Sprott recently knocked out Audley Harrison in three rounds. Sprott is no stranger to Chagaev. The two fighters met last July, in a bout that saw Chagaev win by an eight-round knockout. Chagaev's defense against the winner of Skelton-Sprott is slated for the summer. |

I cant blame Chagaev he brought down the giant. Give him one fight easy fight and then he should face the tough competition. |
I wouldn't be surprised to see him make his first defense against Holyfield. Holy is in the top 15 of the WBA rankings and I'm sure his promoter is all over Chagaev right now. Chagaev can make a hell of a lot more money against Holyfield than anyone else in the WBA top 15.

Skelton or Sprott won't be winning anything.
I meant Skelton will win against Sprott! It is unlikely that he would defeat Chagaev. |
youve got to be fucking kidding me. make him fight the winner of Imbragimov-Briggs, Imbragimov is the #1 contender for the WBA belt anyway!
Why should he fight the winner of another organizations title bout? They are already going at it for the WBO belt |
