Rudy Perez Passes Away After Long Battle With Cancer

The World Boxing Council has confirmed that highly respected trainer Rudy Perez passed away after a long battle with cancer. Perez's exact age was not disclosed. Among the champions that Rudy trained include Marco Antonio Barrera, Marcos Maidana, Pablo Cesar Cano, Tyson Marquez, Jorge Linares, Adrian Hernandez and Israel Vazquez. The veteran trainer had been fighting cancer for the last 18 months according to several close friends.

Rest in peace to a man who was, by all accounts, a wonderful human being. Barrera was one of my favorite fighters to watch in the 90s and a big part of what made me a fan of the sport.…
