Rubio vs Mayorga Bout on May 12th in Baja California?

By Jhonny Gonzalez

As previously reported on BoxingScene.com, a potential fight between Ricardo Mayorga and Marco Antonio Rubio could take place on May 12th in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico - according to the former two division champion from Nicaragua. One source is stating that Mayorga will arrive in Florida next week to start training camp for what is going to be a ten round fight at a catch-weight of 165-pounds.

Mayorga (29-8-1, 23 KOs), has not fought since March of last year when he was stopped by Miguel Cotto, the WBA's junior middleweight. Rubio (53-6-1, 46KOs) returns from a disappointing twelve round decision loss to Julio Cesar Chavez in February.

I think this fight will really be entertaing to be honest. They can both punch. And they both have no defense.Cool.

Mayorga v Margarito would be better. Is there any news on a Fernando Vargas comeback. Margarito v El Feroz would be rapid or even a Mayorga rematch.

I would have preferred Mayorga vs Margarito. Oh well, we can still have two other bums go at it, Chavez Jr vs Margarito. That would be a big money fight for both, lots of Mexican viewers. Probably the 3rd most…

There's another one off of the list of Chavez Jr opponents...looks like there's only Margarito left
