Less than one month remains before Marco Antonio "Veneno" Rubio steps into the ring to trade punches with WBC/IBO middleweight champion Gennady Golovkin of Kazakhstan at the StubHub Center in Carson, California. The HBO televised fight takes place on October 18th. Rubio's WBC interim-title will also be at stake.

The Mexican puncher (59-6-1, 51KOs) is training in Oxnard under the direction of Robert Garcia.

"I can say that I feel very good, we are the strongest in the training stage, I did twelve rounds of sparring, working hard on fitness and trying to get in my best shape to fight," said Rubio.

"[A win here] would be the ultimate triumph of my career, because not only is he one of the best in the division, but he is also among the best pound for pound fighters in the world, and that's what really makes this a dangerous challenge, but also makes the reward big enough. I learned a lot from both my victories and defeats, but as I've learned is that if you do not get well prepared to fight - nothing will penetrate the enemy's weaknesses. Golovkin, until now, has been viewed as being very complete. We know that he is very difficult in all aspects, and we are working on everything."
