Roy Jones Jr., Steve Collins Pick Froch Over Kessler

By Edward Chaykovsky

Super middleweight greats Roy Jones Jr. and Steve Collins pick IBF champion Carl Froch (30-2, 22KOs) to defeat his WBA counterpart Mikkel Kessler (46-2, 35KOs) on May 25th at the O2 Arena in London. Kessler won a twelve round decision over Froch in 2010. Jones and Collins appeared on Sky Sports to discuss the fight.

Collins: I like Carl Froch, I like his style. He doesn't come to mess around. I think that he's come into his own in the last year or two, he's come into his best in his career and I fancy him to win this fight inside the distance.

Jones: I agree. I think the Andre Ward fight helped him a lot because I think he learned a lot about himself. And now going forward, he will be a better fighter. He has more to come back and make up in the second fight than Mikkel Kessler.

Froch gets the decision in this second fight. Home town, Kessler would need to knock him out, which he doesn't do IMO.

Watched Sky Sports Ringside yesterday. Brian Magee, who has been in with both, picked Kessler to win.

I go w/Froch...decent boxing skill, strentg & aggressiveness...will not quit + last 2 bouts, unfortunately Kessler cut rather severely...
