Rosado Eyes Cotto, Lara, Trout - Rips Cotto vs. K9
By Luis Sandoval
Gabriel Rosado is looking ahead to his next fight as he waits for his split decision loss to J’Leon Love last month to be turned into a no contest due to Love failing his post fight drug test. It was also a fight that many felt Rosado had won even if the score cards weren’t in his favor.
Rosado recently made a move up in weight as he entered the middleweight division to take on champion Gennady Golovkin and fought Love shortly after. But it’s now likely that Rosado could return to the Junior Middleweight division as he feels a fight with Erislandy Lara would be possible.
“There could be a potential fight with me and Lara, who knows. I fight at 154. My last two fights [have] been 160. I don't have no problem going back down to 154 man. My last two fights have been against bigger guys at 160 cause of the opportunity [so] I went up to 160. But you know I got unfinished business at 154 so we'll see what happens. If another opportunity comes at middleweight, I'm more than willing to stay at middleweight and continue fighting at that weight class [too]” Rosado would tell BoxingScene.
While Rosado has been fighting at middleweight, the 154 pound division has a deeper pool of names to fight and includes two lucrative opponents that interest Rosado. When asked who he’d like to fight if he had his pick, he singled out two of the best names at junior middleweight.
“We're going to go on to our next move whether it’s [Miguel] Cotto, [Austin] Trout or whatever. We're ready for them. I got nothing but respect for Cotto and Trout. I think Trout is a young killa like myself [and] I think Cotto is a legend. So either fight is a good fight. I think either fight is a fight that fans would definitely watch. No one wants to see Cotto and [Cornelius] K9 [Bundrage]. No one wants to see that. So if Cotto is willing to fight me, I'm up for it man” said the Philadelphia fighter.
Rosado is hoping to be able to secure a fight soon and enjoyed a trip to California to watch this past Saturday night’s Showtime fight card at the Home Depot Center in Carson, CA.

[QUOTE=supRa;13470560]soundslike a gatekeeper[/QUOTE] I view Rosado as a contender, but he'll probably be used (and permanently become) as a gatekeeper to push up-and-coming talent with potential (Charlo, Love) or already established fighters looking to rebound (Ortiz). I think he'll flourish…Comment by supRa on 06-13-2013
[QUOTE=kiaba360;13469780]I think Rosado needs to think realistically. Could he potentially get a fight with the guys he's calling out? Sure, but he should aim his expectations a bit lower. I could see him being Ortiz's first fight @154, or be…Post a Comment - View More User Comments (45)
