By Jose Luis Camarillo,

Junior welterweight Juan Pablo "Pivi" Romero was offered a promotional contract from rapper/promoter 50 Cent, but the young Mexican boxer wants to remain in the amateur ranks. Romero competes in the World Series of Boxing, as part of the Mexico Guerreros. 50 Cent wanted Romero to turn pro in the United States, but Romero wants to remain in the amateur ranks to represent Mexico in the 2016 Olympics. 50 Cent runs SMS Promotions, who have several fighters including James Kirkland and Yuriorkis Gamboa.
