28-year-old WBC International silver lightweight champion Miguel Roman (45-11, 34KOs) has promised to make good on the biggest fight of his life, when he faces former champion Daniel Ponce De Leon (45-6, 35KOs) on June 7th in Ciudad Cuauhtémoc, Chihuahua, Mexico.
Roman is riding a streak of knockouts, including last November's shocking TKO of former champion Juan Carlos Salgado.
Ponce De Leon has been stopped in two of his last three fights, including March's two round TKO at the hands of Juan Manuel Lopez. Ponce De Leon was pondering retirement after that loss, but decided to give it one last go. A loss to Roman will surely send him into retirement.
"Never before have I been so motivated before a fight. I'm going to the home of a former world champion and getting a win can put me one step closer to a world title or to an elimination fight. I'm very motivated to work, I'm around the weight and I have a winning mentality," Roman said.
"I'm not going to miss this opportunity that I've been presented in my career. These opportunities only come around once, so I thank my promoter for placing their trust in me, getting me a fight that I had long been looking for and finally providing me with it. To all of my people, I just want to tell you one thing - I will not fail, I promise."Tags: Daniel Ponce De Leon , Miguel Roman
