Roman Martinez Targets August Return at 135-Pounds

By Rey Colon

Former WBO 130-pound champion, Roman 'Rocky' Martinez (27-2-2, 16KOs), said he hopes to return to the ring in August after undergoing medical examinations and coming up fine.

Martinez had to cancel his last bout a couple of months ago because he felt weak in the final stage of his training camp and it was speculated that he may have been suffering from low blood sugar. He was due to face Ray Beltran on the Pacquiao-Bradley II undercard in April.

"We are already training and I hope to fight again in August. For that fight I was not feeling very well during sparring and I felt a little weak. I went to the doctor, I did my exams and everything went well thanks to God. I hope that this fight is to prepare me for August and then I'll look for an opportunity for any title at 135 pounds," Martinez said.
