Former two division world champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez (29-3-1, 17KOs) says there is no financial need for him to continue fighting and he feels very satisfied with everything that he's accomplished in boxing.

However, that does not mean that he's considering the possibility of retirement, but acknowledged that the time is approaching. Last Saturday night in New York City, Martinez was knocked out cold by Vasyl Lomachenko in the fifth round.

"I never in my life thought to be world champion. My dream was to be once, and I've been champion three times," shared Martinez to Carlos Gonzalez.

Martinez said that boxing has provided him the means to provide financial security for his family.

"I have my property paid off, my car balances and other property are also paid off. All that I have I never expected it. In my life I have been blessed. I did everything I wanted and had the opportunity to travel around the world. I've been able to give my children everything they need, "said Martinez.

Although hang up the gloves is not in their immediate plans, and Martinez thought about what activities will direct his energies once  he closes the book in his career.

The setback suffered at the hands of Lomachenko convinced Martinez that remaining at 130 pounds does not make sense. In fact, he said he will try his luck at 135 pounds.

"For the fight against Lomachenko I did not have the strength that I anticipated. I could not throw. It killed me to make weight. But let's see how the body reacts 135. If everything goes fine, I'll make a few fights. I'm almost certain that 135 pounds will be ideal," Martinez insisted.

"I want to go back to the gym to keep in condition if an opportunity arises. I want to make a fight first to see how the body responds at that weight and then go for a world title."
