WBC flyweight champion Roman "Chocolatito" Gonzalez (41-0, 35 KOs) continues to train in San Judas, preparing for his upcoming defense on February 28 in Managua. It was revealed that Valentin Leon is a possible opponent for the date. There are several others being discussed, like César Gándara, Alejandro Morales and Humberto Morales - although organizers say Gándara (23-5, 9 KOs) is unlikely because he "was asking a lot of money."

Leon, 35 years old and originally from Culiacan, has a record of 38 wins, 28 defeats (21 KOs) and three draws. Certainly some people will question the record but Gonzalez ius taking the fight as a stay-busy opportunity for a planned defense in the month of May and a possible fight against 115 pound champion Naoya Inoue at the end of the year.

"Possibly I'm going to fight against Inoue later this year, but right now we are fighting in this division. I want to fight again at this weight. Thank God everything is fine. I'm still preparing to get in the best physical condition, and I have sparred a lot with some guys like David Morales, Carlos" Chocorroncito "Buitrago, among others. I'm focused on my defense, throwing more punches, try as little as possible to receive counters, and hip movements," Gonzalez said.

"I respect the opinions of everyone. If I get paid well, I fight with anyone and I am ready. I just listening to proposals, to me you're paying me though Mr. Akihiko Honda, and if they pay me what Mr. Honda gives me, I am willing to fight them. "
