According Arnulfo Obando, the coach Gonzalez, the boxer has held private sparring and training sessions in Tokyo.

"Roman has been working hard for this fight. I like what I see, he is in good condition and ready to win and bring this third world title back to Nicaragua," Obando said.

For the press, Gonzalez did three rounds of sparring against Filipino Rocky Fuentes, an experienced fighter who developed his career in Japan.
