Boxeo Telemundo started the 2017 spring season with “Showdown at the Bay VI” from the Tony Rosa Community Center in Palm Bay, Florida.

Two 2016 Rio Olympians, who are promoted by Top Rank, were showcased on the card.

Lightweight Teofimo Lopez (2-0, 1 KO) who represented his parents home country of Honduras at Rio and now resides in Davie, Florida, beat down 17 fight veteran Francisco Medel (10-8-6 KO’s) of Mexico for a fourth round stoppage victory. Lopez made his debut on last November's Manny Pacquiao vs. Jessie Vargas undercard at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas.

Antonio Vargas (1-0, 1 KO), who represented the United States and now resides in Kissimmee, Florida, made his pro debut with a first round destruction of Luis Villegas (0-4) of Puerto Rico in a bout scheduled for four rounds at bantamweights.

In the televised main event of the evening, top rated junior bantamweight contender Ricardo “Meserito” Rodriguez (16-3, 5 KOs) of Mexico knocked out previously undefeated Carlos “The Kid” Narvaez (15-1, 6 KO’s) of Puerto Rico in four rounds.

Narvaez, who is promoted by Miguel Cotto's promotional company, was blasted out in the fourth round with a huge left hand.
