The junior welterweight silver champion of the World Boxing Council (WBC), Mexico's Roberto "Massa" Ortiz (23-0, 20KOs) has challenged the new full champion of the WBC, Danny Garcia (23-0, 14KOs), to a showdown.
Roberto, a native and resident of the City of Torreon, Coahuila, is currently training in Mexico City for a scheduled fight on April 26th at the Expo Bancomer Santa Fe in Mexico City.
"I first want to say that I am honored that I've now been mentioned as a potential future opponent for Danny Garcia. For me, I accept his words with respect and of course I want to face him. I want the title by any means whatsoever. I'm preparing for that moment every day. In the past I said that I would like to face [Erik Morales. To me it would have been an honor to face him, but now the belt belongs to someone else, so I want to go for it," Ortiz said.
