Robert Guerrero vs. Victor Ortiz Possible For September

By Rick Reeno

MGM Grand, Las Vegas - Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer discussed the fall return former welterweight champion Victor Ortiz (29-4-2, 22KOs). The boxer is slated to return on a date in September.

Ortiz has been inactive since June 2012, when he suffered a broken jaw in a ninth round TKO loss. Ortiz underwent surgery and then took part in the very popular "Dancing With The Stars" reality series.

Schaefer said one possible opponent for Ortiz, which the golden promoter expects to be a great fight - is the recently beaten Robert "The Ghost" Guerrero (31-2-1, 18KOs).

Guerrero lost a twelve round decision to Floyd Mayweather Jr. on Saturday night. Mayweather knocked out Ortiz in four rounds in September of 2011. Both boxers also won bruising fights with Andre Berto.
