Robert Guerrero Eyes Maidana, Berto, More Options

By Rick Reeno

Sources close to the situation have advised BoxingScene.com that several options are being discussed for a year-end fight involving WBC interim-welterweight champion Robert Guerrero (30-1-1, 18KOs).

Guerrero made his welterweight debut in July, winning a twelve round unanimous decision over unbeaten Selcuk Aydin.

Among the possibilities in play - a fight with Marcos Maidana (32-3, 29KOs), who now campaigns at 147-pounds.

There is also some discussion about a potential fight on November 24th with former WBC welterweight champion Andre Berto (28-1, 22KOs). A few short weeks ago, Berto was being positioned for a planned bout with IBF 154-pound champion Cornelius Bundrage. There are reportedly some issues with that fight and some believe it might fall apart. If the fight crumbles, then Guerrero could possibly slide his way in.

And there is also possibility of Guerrero taking on the winner of the October 20th fight between IBF king Randall Bailey and challenger Devon Alexander.

Its about time he started looking for a fight in his league. If he wants that Mayweather fight Berto is a good guy to beat for it, though I don't see it happening.

Hope Maidana doesn't take the fight. It'll be another Alexander repeat. Guerrero loves to hug/clinch just like Alexander. Don't do it Maidana, you'll only get frustrated.

Maidana is not the same fighter at 147. Guerrero got lucky with Aydin at 147, and Aydin is a better fighter who had a very off night. Maidana has said several times he's not strong enough at 147, yet his…
yeah I'm also curious as to why Floyd hasn't been stripped of either. **aside from Pacquiao, Mayweather doesn't have too many serious options at Welterweight as Guerrero, Berto etc would be "tune up" type opponents at best
With Berto's youth,…
