'Road To Marquez/Alvarado' Premieres 4/19 on HBO

The next non-Pay-Per-View headliner to air on HBO has been confirmed to come with its own pre-fight special.

The anticipated showdown between Juan Manuel Marquez and Mike Alvarado takes place on May 17 at The Forum in Los Angeles. Four weeks prior, preparation for the bout will be chronicled in a 15-minute documentary when Road To Marquez/Alvarado premieres Saturday, April 19 at 12:45AM ET/PT on HBO. 

Both fighters are coming off of losses having taken place one week apart in October. Marquez dropped a competitive decision to Tim Bradley in their 12-round welterweight title fight last October, one week prior to Alvarado suffering a crushing 10th round knockout loss to Ruslan Provodnikov in their Fight of the Year candidate just outside of Denver. 

The May 17 collision will take place at a catchweight, with the maximum allowed weight set for 143 lb. Alvarado has spent the majority of his prime in the 140 lb. division; Marquez is a former champion in three weight classes (126 lb., 130 lb., 135 lb.) and a former interim 140 lb. titlist who has spent three of his last four fights at (though officially well below) welterweight.

Yay. Can't wait to hear Marquez blame brady for robbing him and then explain how Alvarado is a better figh tahn Provodnikov while the near mention of Provo's name puts Alvarado back in war like flashbacks, pissing and ****ting himself
