FREDDIE ROACH has warned that Amir Khan might have to knock out Danny Garcia on Saturday to avoid being on the wrong end of another dodgy decision.
The Hall of Fame trainer believes that some of his fighters could have been targeted because of jealousy during his long streak of success in recent years.
Khan was left cursing officials in Washington after losing his WBA and IBF light-welterweight titles to Lamont Peterson in December.
And when Manny Pacquiao lost his WBO welterweight to Timothy Bradley in Las Vegas last month, Roach feared that he, himself, was the problem.
“I’m worried about decisions since Manny Pacquiao’s fight,” said Roach.
“So I’ve told Amir that we have to knock this guy out somewhere along the way.
“Freddie Roach and the Wild Card (his gym) have had too much success and people are jealous.”
Khan faces Garcia at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas on Saturday for Garcia’s WBC light-welterweight title and the vacant WBA crown that has been stripped from Peterson after his failed drugs test.
As well as Khan and Pacquiao, two other high-profile Roach fighters, Julio Cesar Chavez and Lateef Kayode, have had rough treatment from judges.
It has also affected young boxers at the amateur club Roach runs out of his Wild Card gym in Hollywood.
“Some of the kids were winning fights but not getting the decisions,” said Roach.
“I have to have my amateurs go into tournaments now as unattached, rather than say they are with the Wild Card, to have a better chance.
“It’s a serious concern and I’m not joking.”
Meanwhile, Roach says he is not worried about Khan getting caught up in a war of words with Garcia’s father, Angel.
Garcia’s father, who is also the American’s trainer, has launched a bizarre series of verbal assaults.
At a press conference last month Garcia’s dad said Khan rode on a magic carpet, and when it was pointed out that Khan was English, not Arabic, he began mocking the Queen.
“He’s trying to get under our skin, trying to talk s***,” said Roach.
“I laughed at him. I think he’s funny. He says stupid stuff, where does that come from? I hope his son has a better
education than him.
“I feel sorry for his son. But you can’t choose your parents.”
