BOXING legend Manny Pacquiao will make his next opponent pay the price for giving him a “slap in the face”.
The Filipino superstar – normally one of the gentlemen of the sport – is incensed at the actions of Juan Manuel Marquez.
Pacquiao defends his WBO welterweight title against the Mexican in Las Vegas on November 12.
It will be the third meeting between the pair, with a draw in 2004 followed by a split decision win for Pacquiao four years later.
Marquez, 38, has repeatedly claimed he won both and has now angered Pacquiao by wearing a T-shirt proclaiming:
“We were robbed.”
That’s got the normally mild-mannered Pacman’s blood boiling, with his trainer Freddie Roach saying: “When Marquez wore that T-shirt, he embarrassed Manny a little bit. It was a slap in the face and I think Manny will pay him back.”
Pacquiao said: “I’ve never been so motivated as I am for this fight. I almost can’t wait for it.
“I want to prove that he was wrong in wearing that T-shirt.
“So this is kind of a special fight, the most important fight in my boxing career, because I want this fight to be the answer to all the doubts that have been raised.”
