Freddie Roach , trainer of WBO welterweight champion Manny Pacquiao, is not ready to give up on a rematch with Floyd Mayweather Jr.

Mayweather won a twelve round decision over Pacquiao in May 2015. The fight was the richest in boxing history, with a record smashing 4.6 million pay-per-view buys and over $600 million in revenue.

Pacquiao, beyond claiming he was robbed of a win on the scorecards, says he suffered a bad shoulder injury during the fight and it hindered him from performing at his best.

Pacquiao is scheduled to make a defense of his title against huge underdog Jeff Horn on July 1 at the Suncorp Stadium in Brisbane.

Beyond the fight with Horn, there are several big opportunities for the future - including WBO, WBC junior welterweight champion Terence Crawford, WBC lightweight champion Mikey Garcia.

But, Roach would still be willing to hold out for a rematch with Mayweather - who retired from boxing in September 2015, but may return to the ring for a cross-sports fight with UFC superstar Conor McGregor.

"Mikey Garcia’s brother came to see me a couple of weeks ago and challenged me and asked if Manny would fight Mikey Garcia. I love that fight but I don’t have final say in that. We’re looking for a big fight after this one, but we need to get this guy out of the way first," Roach said to On The Ropes Boxing Radio.

"I would love for that [Mayweather rematch] to happen but it seems like he’s stuck on McGregor right now. I’m unsure what’s going to happen right there because I don’t think the sports mix that well, McGregor would have to take five years to fight Mayweather. Mayweather is a very crafty boxer and we would love to get him one more time, but that still remains to be seen."

"Garcia is a big name, Crawford is a big name. There’s some really good guys out there, but of course Mayweather is still at the top of the list I think. There’s a lot of good guys out there for us to fight and I think Manny can still contend with all of those guys."
