Roach Impressed With Chavez vs Vanes Gym Battle

Julio Cesar Chavez Jr and Vanes Martirosyan blasted hard punches while sparring six hard rounds at the Chavez Jr Media Day on Wednesday.

Chief trainer Freddie Roach announced to media "it's time to spar."   Chavez Jr and Martirosyan fired off big punches.  Chavez Jr worked on body shots.  Martirosyan landed heavy punches to the jaw of Chavez Jr while his father, the legendary Julio Cesar Chavez, watched from ringside at the Wild Card Gym.

Roach, who trains both fighters at the Wild Card, said he wanted to make a point.

"Junior is in top condition and ready to fight for the world title," he said. "The same goes for Vanes. This is the best he's looked in a long time."

On June 4, Chavez Jr will challenge WBC Middleweight Champion Sebastian Zbik at the STAPLES Center in Los Angeles. On the undercard, Martirosyan will take on Saul Roman in an eliminator bout.

Zbik vs. Chavez Jr will be televised on HBO After Dark
