Freddie Roach is feeling very happy about his training and preparation for Amir Khan as they gear up to battle WBC Junior Welterweight champion Danny Garcia on July 14th at the Mandalay Bay in Las Vegas, NV.

Khan is coming off a tough hard fight against Lamont Peterson last November and while he really wanted the rematch to settle the score, things didn’t quite work out the way he wanted. Peterson tested positive for synthetic testosterone  leading up to their rematch and was forced to pull out of the fight and left Khan looking for a new opponent.
When Roach spoke to BoxingScene, he was asked if he felt Danny Garcia was just as tough of an opponent as Peterson.

“No, I think Peterson is a much more experienced fighter. Much more polished. I think figuring the guys out and watching tapes of both fighters, I think Garcia is made to order for us” said the Hall of Fame trainer.

Roach, much like his fighter, has been the victim of some of Angel Garcia’s recent verbal thrashings. Angel, who is the father and trainer of Danny Garcia, criticized Roach’s training credentials and claimed every successful fighter he’s had has already came to him groomed and ready to go.

Roach was asked about his thoughts and reaction to the statements Angel Garcia had made and Freddie couldn’t help but smile. He’s a guy who’s seen and heard it all and Garcia’s comments have little to no affect on him.

“It’s like, is it really worth a response?” said Roach as he chuckled.

“I don’t read the internet so I don’t read negative information. It’s not part of my life. Thing is, whatever he says, I talk about Sergio Martinez not being that good sometimes so it’s just talk” said Roach as he continued to laugh. “It really doesn’t affect me at all and best thing is it won’t help him at all. His son will pay in the ring”.
