| Rigondeaux Decisions Game Marroquin Over Twelve
|
|
By Ryan Burton Thomas & Mack, Las Vegas - WBA super featherweight champion Guillermo Rigondeaux (11-0) successfully defended his title with a unanimous decision victory over Roberto Marroquin (22-2). The scores were 118-108 twice and 118-109. The on again, off again fight began slow as both fighters felt each other out. Marroquin had his best round of the night in the third when he wobbled the Cuban. However he was unable to capitalize on it and Rigondeaux sent Marroquin to the canvas in the 5th. Marroquin wasn't hurt and jumped to his feet. Rigondeaux fought very tentatively and defensively. Marroquin wobbled Rigondeaux again in the 9th but again couldn't follow up on what little momentum he could muster up. Marroquin was sent crashing to the ring again in the opening seconds of the 12th round. Rigondeaux finally put his foot on the gas and tried to put his opponent away. Marroquin was out gunned but bravely fought on till the final bell. Tags: Guillermo Rigondeaux , Roberto Marroquin , Rigondeaux-Marroquin , Rigondeaux vs Marroquin |

Rigondeaux is bad a** fighter at 122. I like how he got rocked a couple of times and still looked in control of the fight. |

[QUOTE=CubanGuyNYC]Good post, as always. I'm not sure I agree there shouldn't be any worry, but you make a good case. Maybe I'm wrong. I find your bolded statements particularly insightful. But I must make one correction: those shots that wobbled Rigo weren't flush. They were well-placed/timed, b... |

You only have one or few shots to hit rigo with , thats it . After that , the boxing classes begins , he is a master. Look at the fight , rigo destro... |
