Ricky Burns Opponent Set, Hearn To Reveal Next Tuesday

By Edward Chaykovsky

Promoter Eddie Hearn of Matchroom has scheduled a press conference for next Tuesday at the Marriott Hotel in Glasgow to officially announce the next opponent of WBO lightweight champion Ricky Burns (35-2, 10KOs). Burns’ next fight takes place at the Emirates Arena in Glasgow on May 11 and live on Sky Sports. This will be Burns’ first under the Matchroom Boxing banner, and Hearn will reveal early details on the undercard and also ticket news.

Burns was going to face IBF champion Miguel Vazquez in a unification on April 20th, but then he parted way with longtime promoter Frank Warren and signed a promotional contract with Hearn. Warren is set to challenge Burns' departure in a court of law.
