RICKY BURNS says a legal battle with his former promoter Frank Warren will not distract him from Saturday’s world title defence.
The Scot split from Warren in March and has his first fight under new promoter Eddie Hearn against Jose Gonzalez in Glasgow next weekend.
Warren is suing Burns for £300,000 for breach of contract.
But the WBO lightweight champ, 30, is confident he will be in top form as he fights for the first time since September – and is not worried about the court case.
He said: “It’s not going to be a distraction, not at all. I knew it was going to happen.
“Eddie told me to put it to the back of my mind and to let the lawyers deal with it.
“I’ve got enough pressure on me to defend my world title to worry about anything else.
“I’ve not fought since September but I’ve done six weeks of sparring so I’m not worried about ring-rust.”Tags: Frank Warren , Jose Gonzalez , Ricky Burns , Burns-Gonzalez , Burns vs. Gonzalez
