Ricardo Mayorga, Ortiz Ready For Rematch Battle

By Tim Kudgis

Former Boxing World Champion Ricardo Mayorga will once again return to the MMA Cage as the main event for WSOF: Central America.  As a pro MMA fighter Mayorga has yet to get a notch in the win column.  Mayorga (0-2 1NC) originally won his pro MMA debut but it was overturned by the commission and he served a short suspension due to an illegal knee to the back of his opponent Wesley Tiffer (0-1 1NC).

Following his pro debut victory being overturned, Mayorga dropped back to back fights.  First he jumped off to a good start against Rene Martinez (5-0-1) but was lured into a Guillotine choke forcing him to tap at 1:39 of the 1st round.  Then he faced Sergio Ortiz (2-1) in a wild and crazy brawl.  While showing growth as an MMA fighter, he dropped a split decision.

Mayorga will once again face Ortiz.  A win here could add substance to Mayorga's MMA career but a loss may force Mayorga to turn his attention back to boxing or retire from all contact sports.

Who, what, when, why and how mean nothing to this man, he just wants to fight! Mayorga would fight his mom. Would probably lose by a split decision though.
