Considered a worthy candidate to become future world champion, Mexico's Rey "King" Vargas will return to action on the 23rd of August at a venue to be determined. Month by month, the 23-year-old Vargas is getting closer to getting a shot at the super bantamweight world championship of the World Boxing Council (WBC), currently held by fellow Mexican Leo Santa Cruz. Vargas, 20-0 with 17 knockouts and trained by Hall of Fame coach Nacho Beristain, holds the WBC's Youth silver title at 122-pounds.
