Randall Bailey: Cunningham Will Feel Alexander's Beating

By Ryan Burton

IBF welterweight champion Randall Bailey (43-7, 37KOs) was scheduled to face Devon Alexander (23-1, 12KOs) on September 8th at the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada. As reported on Friday by BoxingScene.com's Rick Reeno, Bailey pulled out of the Showtime televised bout with a back injury and the fight will be rescheduled for either October 20th at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn or October 27 at the Honda Center in Anaheim. Showtime is televising both October events.

The September show will still go forward with Lucas Matthysse facing Ajose Olusegun in a WBC final junior welterweight eliminator, with the interim-title on the line.

BoxingScene had a brief conversation with the champion who said that he injured himself in his training camp and that he doesn't expect to be out for too long.

"I should be ready to go in October.  I don't know the exact date but it will be in October," Bailey told BoxingScene.

Bailey finished our conversation by saying that the fight is still going to end in the same way it would have on September 8th and took a shot at Alexander's manager and trainer Kevin Cunningham, who doesn't believe Bailey's injury claim.

"I just want the fans to know that I'm a get better and take care of Mr.Cunningham. Notice what I said, because as I'm beating on Devon, Kevin is gonna be feeling it (laughing)," said Bailey.

Bailey's an idiot, he has a great opportunity and he's screwing around. Team Bailey needs to get their **** together.

Bailey it's probably nowhere near making weight. Sounds like an excus. This time frame is to specific for back injuries.
Bailey was given extra time to prepare for this fight. He's doing a lot of talking for a guy that has a bad back.
That that actually make sense in your head?... :dead:
