BoxingScene.com has been advised by multiple sources that the August 4th super bantamweight showdown between former champions Wilfredo Vazquez Jr. (21-2-1, 18KOs) and Rafael Marquez (41-7, 37KOs) is off. They were set to battle at the Coliseo Ruben Rodriguez in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. According to the sources, Marquez suffered a hand injury while training.

The fight may be rescheduled to a later date after the extent of the injury is determined.

Former super featherweight champion Roman "Rocky" Martinez was set to square off against Miguel Beltran in the co-featured fight.

Editor's Note: The fight has been targeted for a postponed date of October 6th.

Marquez was injured before the Lopez fight, after the Lopez fight and now before this Vasquez fight. Can't help but think age is catching up to him and he's breaking down. Too many wars for this man, it might be time to just hang'm up.

With our luck recently guys/gals, that shot the doctor gave Marquez in the knuckle is loaded with banned substances and he'll end up testing positive and the entire event will get cancelled!! Let's hope that's not the case, lol. I'm expecting this fight to be badass!!
