Former multi-division world champion Rafael Márquez (41-7, 37KOs) is hungry to put on a show against Wilfredo "Papito" Vázquez (21-2-1, 18KOs) in a super bantamweight clash on August 4th in Puerto Rico. Marquez is one fight removez from a twelve round decision loss to WBC champion Toshiaki Nishioka, while Vazquez is one fight removed from a decision loss to Nonito Donaire.
"We are coming to work and to give a good show to all of the people who bought tickets and plan to see it on television. We are going to come with everything. It might may end with a knockout, but I believe that the knockout will come. We hope that the people will leave satisfied," Marquez said.
Marquez would love to get a revenge match with Juan Manuel Lopez. He fought a war with Lopez for eight rounds in 2010, but couldn't come out for round nine after suffering a shoulder injury.
“In this fight I my shoulder was hurting me a lot, since the fight with Israel Vázquez. I wanted to [keep fighting], but from the third round on I was feeling bad. I could not lift my hands and after eight rounds I couldn't go any more. I would have liked a rematch but it's a pity that Orlando Salido [beat me to him]. And win or lose [against Vazquez] I believe that I have a few years left," Marquez said.
