Topping the undercard, Aaron Herrera extended his unbeaten streak to four straight, scoring an eight-round decision over Wilfrido Buelvas in their super lightweight bout.
Scores were 79-73, 78-74 and and odd 79-77 in favor of Herrera (28-3-1, 17KOs), who was steady and effective over the course of the night. The 24-year old fought for the first time since a technical draw with Jorge Paez in their fun but anti-climactic affair last October.
Herrera's win over Buelvas (15-4, 9KOs) - who has now lost three straight - aired via one-hour delay on UniMas in the U.S. The balance of the undercard aired live on TV Azteca.
Ramses Agaton managed an eight-round decision over Jonathan Duran (13-9-1, 6KOs) in the final bout to air on the stateside feed of TV Azteca. The telecast cut off without scores being announced on air, though Agaton (15-1-3, 8KOs) had his way with the journeyman. No knockdowns were scored, although Duran was partially shoved to the canvas in the closing seconds of the bout.
Miguel Herrera (9-1-3, 5KOs) was given a major scale in being held to a six-round draw by flyweight journeyman Martin Tecuapetla (11-6-3, 8KOs). Scores were 58-56 and 57-57 (twice). Herrera is the younger brother of super lightweight gatekeeper Aaron Herrera, who also appears on the show later this evening.
Mohamad Rodriguez and late sub Alvaro Barco engaged in an entertaining four round matchup of unbeaten lightweight prospects. Momentum swayed back and forth throughout their televised opener. Sadly for viewers at home, the final verdict was never announced.
