BoxingScene recently spoke to junior welterweight contender Ruslan Provodnikov to get his take on a potential fall showdown against WBO interim junior welterweight champion Mike Alvarado.
Top Rank would like the fight to take place on October 19th in Alvarado's hometown of Denver, CO. Provodnikovsaid that he has no problem with facing the once beaten fighter in his backyard.
"Yes I am okay with fighting Alvarado in Denver on October 19th. I will fight him anywhere because I think this fight is going to be another Fight of the Year (candidate) and it's what all the fans want!" Provodnikov exclaimed.
The fight has been talked about for a few months but so far a deal hasn't been reached. Provodnikov thinks that Alvarado is looking for an easier title defense in his homecoming fight. Alvarado went to the social networks on Wednesday and complained that his promoter, Top Rank, was not offering him enough money for the fight.
The Siberian fighter feels that this fight will be so great that there will be no losers in this fight, that even in defeat fans will continue to want to see both boxers continue to put on exciting performances.
"I think Mike Alvarado does not want to fight me. He is looking for an easier fight out there. He has to realize though that if we are both men we have to take risks and that we will both only win from this fight. He knows this is going to be another great fight that will only make both of us bigger stars no matter what, win or lose!" Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com while urging Alvarado to sign his contract.
"I have already agreed to the fight and I think it's time for Mike Alvarado to step up to the plate and be a man. We have to give the boxing world what they want, another great war!"
