Speaking through his manager and translator Vadim Kornilov, WBO super lightweight champion Ruslan Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com that he would like to send a personal message to boxing fans, imploring them to donate whatever they can to the fund set up to help Magomed Abdusalamov's family and help pay for his medical expenses.

Provodnikov and Team Provodnikov team members Kornilov, Andrei Napolskikh, German Titov, and Alexey Titov have already made a significant donation to help their countryman.

After his knockout victory over Mike Alvarado, Provodnikov became the biggest fighter in Russia.  Prior to his fateful fight, Magomed had said that he was motivated by his fellow Russian's victory and that he wanted to be the heavyweight version of Provodnikov. Ruslan hopes that fans will rally behind Abdusalamov and help give him the support he needs.

"I hope that all fans can donate to help Abdusalamov and his family. Whatever they can send will be deeply appreciated," Provodnikov told BoxingScene.com.
