Five amateur boxers from Smithys gym will this weekend travel interstate to Ballina NSW to fight on a pre matched amateur tournament.
Josh Webb, Les Madden, Ben Whitaker, James Spark and current Australian 57kg champion Steven Spark will all be stepping in to the ring with extra motivation, wanting to do Queensland boxing proud in the interstate card.
This will mark the first fight in the careers of Les Madden and James Spark, while Josh Webb, Ben Whitaker and Steven Spark will all be looking to continue their success of late.
Also travelling to Ballina with the amateur boxing team, are the Smithys Gym professionals, Les Sherrington, Jack Asis, Brayd Smith and Arnel Tinampay ahead of their massive fights at the Gold Coast Convention Centre on July 28.
The fighters will be there to add an extra bit of support to the young amateur team, as well as being interviewed center ring to advertise their upcoming fights.
It will also mark the first night that professional boxers will be in camp on the Gold Coast in the final week before the July 28 promotion.
