World of Boxing CEO Andrei Ryabsinki sees Polish giant Mariusz Wach (31-1, 17 KOs) as the perfect opponent to prepare Alexander Povetkin (29-1, 21 KOs) for his mandatory shot at WBC heavyweight champion Deontay Wilder (34-0, 33KOs). Povetkin-Wach is scheduled for November 4 in Kazan.
To get ready for Wilder, Ryanbinski says Povetkin need a tall, strong opponent and one who is very durable. Povetkin has been blasting out the competition rather easily these days and Wach has never been stopped.
The Pole's only defeat came at the hands of the current kingpin of the heavyweight division, Wladimir Klitschko. Wach withstood some serious punches in that contest to go the entire twelve round distance.
"Right now Alexander needs a tall, big and heavy opponent. Wilder is no longer a joke. Wach has his advantages and disadvantages. He is not that fast, but he is a big and physically strong guy. He also fought Wladimir Klitschko for the full twelve rounds. For Alexander it will be so good foundation and preparation for Wilder," Ryabinski said.
