| Povetkin's Manager: We Are Already Preparing For Haye
|
|
By Ruslan Chikov Vladimir Hryunov, manager of Alexander Povetkin (21-0, 15 KO), says his boxer is already getting ready for what might be a possible fight with WBA heavyweight champion David Haye (25-1, 23 KO). Haye plans to fight on May 21 in Engalnd. The mandatory challenger, Ruslan Chagaev (27-1-1, 17 KOs), may not be able to receive approval from the British Boxing Board, due to Hepititis B being present in his blood. "Preparations have already been outlined with a plan to fight Haye, but we'll play it out if we feel confident that the fight will happen. For now, I can not assess the chances of Alexander in the fight against Haye. But when the fight is certain, we will proceed to implement the plan," Hryunov said. "The most realistic scenario is the fight takes place on British soil. You have to understand that David Haye dictates the terms. However, based on the initial contacts with our camp, I can say that negotiations about a possible fight will be more enjoyable and more effective than our previous talks with the management of the Klitschko brothers." Vit's punching power is a little overrated, but it's still astounding that Corrie took so many flush, flush shots and was still on his... |
No, that was the % of power punches Vit landed on Corrie. But yea, like you say, Chambers should have beaten Povetkin, and would likely win a rematch.

Wouldn't surprise me. Chambers was hitting the ginger tabby with practically every punch he threw, hard shots as well. Had he been in better condition he would have won, and unlike the majority of cases where this is simply used as an excuse by the losing opponent and his support... |
I was responding to Steelspammer who brought up Haye's Amateur match with Solis. So whats wrong with bringing up an actual Pro-fight?
I wasn't aware of that. In any case, if you dismiss the Byrd victory as being too long ago then you need to dismiss the Purrity loss as ... |
