| Povetkin Being Trained By Tszyu For Rahman Defense
By Per Ake Persson WBA "regular" heavyweight champion Alexander Povetkin was far from his best against Marco Huck earlier this year. He was in fact out of shape but the only explanation offered was that he had underestimated his opponent. I contacted his manager, Vlad Hryunov, to see how his training camp is going, and I was advised that all-time boxing great Kostya Tszyu is now training Povetkin. It appears however that Alexander Zimin is still the head coach but is currently sidelined due to illness. Povetkin, at least on paper, has an easy defense against faded ex-champ Hasim Rahman on July 14 in London - but if he doesn't show up in better shape than he did against Huck then any fight will be dangerous. If Povetkin won't take his career serious with Tszyu lending his expertise then he has no chance at success so there should be a noticable diffrence |

It will be interesting to see how much Rahman will weigh. But with a good training camp for Povetkin i dont see a chance for old, faded, sluggish and slow Rahman. If Povetkin comes in the same shape like against Huck, Rahman could actually win though. |

he fought six tomato cans to get his ranking as high as WBA #3. when the WBA made their Chagaev\Povetkin fight for the interim title it jumped Rahman to the #1 spot & mandatory for the interim title fight winner. he would have had this fight over a year ago but was paid step aside money twice by ... |
