There had been a lot of speculation about a welterweight showdown taking place on December 12th between Keith 'One Time' Thurman and Shawn 'Showtime' Porter. But it appears that fight will not take place - at least on that date.

Kenny Porter, the father/manager of 'Showtime' told BoxingScene.com regarding that match-up - "We never received a contract for it."

It seems that the Porters had committed on their end to this fight.

"I gave them my verbal that we wanted the fight and I reiterated that on numerous occasions about ten weeks out (from the December 12th date) that we were ready to fight Keith Thurman and I told that to the people that were in charge of putting the fight together," Kenny said,

"So they understand that Shawn Porter's ready to go. We brought in numerous sparring partners over the course of the last three, four weeks so we could be ready so when they say,'OK, this is the date,' [and then] we can turn up the heat on the work.'

"But now my gut instinct is it's not going to happen."

Porter was last seen out-fighting a reluctant Adrien Broner over 12 rounds on June 20th. So with or without Thurman, will he box again in 2015?

''I'm going to be asking for another fight if we can't get Keith Thurman," answered Porter, who says he will be meeting with Al Haymon by the end of the week.

So did any of this surprise him?

''No," said Porter, flatly. "Because initially I did not feel I was receiving the forthright information that would tell me this was going to happen. I didn't feel like I was getting any good information that it was going to happen."
