It was officially announced on Thursday that former welterweight world champion "Showtime" Shawn Porter would return in what promises to be a fight filled with fireworks, against tough as nails Adrian Granados.
The fight will be part of the Showtime televised undercard to Deontay Wilder's defense of the WBC heavyweight title against Luis Ortiz.
The event takes place on Saturday, Nov. 4 at Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York. This will be Porter's fourth fight at Barclays Center. He won the welterweight title at the arena with a unanimous decision over Devon Alexander on Dec. 7, 2013.
Porter's last fight took place at the venue as well, when scored a TKO victory against former welterweight champion Andre Berto on April 22. The most recognizable fight for him at Barclays, was last year's twelve round war with current WBC, WBA champion Keith Thurman.
Porter (27-2-1, 17 KOs) is not overlooking Granados (18-5-2, 12 KOs) and expects a very tough fight.
"Against Granados I'm getting into the ring with someone who is very established as an amateur and a professional, has great skills and isn't going to go in there and lay down. That's always going to bring out the best in me, and that's always going to create a very exciting match-up. I know that when I do what I'm planning to do, it's going to be exciting, entertaining and fill the seats," Porter said.
In his last fight, Granados took former four division world champion Adrien Broner to the limit, but ultimately lost a split decision on February 18.
"I'm very excited to be fighting one of the best welterweights in the world in Shawn Porter," said Granados. "With our styles it's going to be fireworks from the opening bell. I was getting ready for a fight in October but when this opportunity arose I jumped at it. It's a tremendous card to be fighting on with the whole world watching and I'm looking to put on a great performance."
