Porter: I'll Be Prepared For Everything Kell Brook Has!
By Bill "Two Scoops" Emes
IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) is very excited to face mandatory challenger Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) on a date in early August, reportedly as the main event of a Showtime televised tripleheader from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
This will be Porter's second defense of the title after knocking out former two division champion Paulie Malignaggi on April 19th at the DC Armory.
"It's supposed to be me and Kell Brook, twelve rounds for the IBF title. It's going to be exciting. I'm going to be prepared for everything that he's got. I see a little bit of speed, a little bit of quickness, a little but of power. And I'll be ready for all of that," Porter told BoxingScene.com.
"Its very exciting to headline a card in Brooklyn. And some of the names being thrown at me to be on the undercard, its going to be a tremendous card. I saw Zab Judah earlier this week in the gym and he said he might be on there. I'm told Danny Jacobs will be on there. I'm just excited just to headline it and be the main event that night."
If Brook is on his game, he'll win this.Comment by Emon723 on 06-17-2014
With upsets becoming possible after Provo's loss, I won't be surprise if Brook pulls this one over Porter.Comment by TOBYLEE1 on 06-16-2014
Brooks has a decent right hand but I don't see nothing special in him. He likes to fight at a pace and gets hit with too many lefts. I expect Brooks to overwelm Brooks if he can take that right…Comment by Dirk Diggler UK on 06-16-2014
another gary lockett, brian rose, michael jennings sacrifice
Lol.....harsh. Brook is a much more talented fighter than those 3 combined. I think this is a bad style match for him. He'd had been better off against Alexander.Comment by Box-Office on 06-16-2014
Winner gets a well deserved fight with King Khan 2.0. I can't wait for this one. More pumped for this than I was for Martinez-Cotto. I got Porter stopping Brook in 7-9 Rounds, but if not a Porter victory nonetheless.Post a Comment - View More User Comments (23)
