Porter Hopes Knocking Off Kell Brook Brings Mayweather

By Edward Chaykovsky

IBF welterweight champion Shawn Porter (24-0-1, 15KOs) and his upcoming opponent Kell Brook (32-0, 22KOs) share the same outlook on their fight - they see it as a gateway to bigger opportunities. They will fight on August 16th from the StubHub Center in Carson, California.

Brook is more inclined to target Amir Khan if he captures the title from Porter. The champion would like to secure a unification, against WBC/WBA champion Floyd Mayweather Jr. (46-0, 26KOs), who first has a rematch with Marcos Maidana on September 13th.

"You look forward to those opportunities. I don't consider my fights as auditions [for guys like Mayweather], I consider them performances. I go out there and I give it my all, I don't go out there and give it my all with expectations of getting something bigger and better, but with the expectations of making that fight the biggest and best fight that I've had, and then going from there. Again, you know this is boxing, we don't look ahead of ourselves, but at the same time, yes, Mayweather, we all know he's on the clock and we're all right there standing there hoping that we're next in line," Porter said.

Khan should fight the winner of Porter-Brook. Winner fights Floyd.

[QUOTE=Bronx2245;14827223]My advice to Porter is: If you get an offer to fight Marquez this year...take the fight! I'm a fan of Thurman, but JMM brings way more exposure, and much less risk. JMM has only beaten Pacquiao at 147, and…
