WBC featherweight champion Daniel Ponce de Leon (44-4, 35KOs) has no interest in a rematch with Celestino Caballero, the "regular" WBA champion at featherweight. Cabalero was targeting the winner of the September 15th bout between Ponce and Jhonny Gonzalez. Ponce won an eight round technical decision. (36-4, 23KOs) to capture the WBC crown. Caballero defeated Ponce (then unbeaten at 24-0) with a twelve round decision in 2005.

"At the moment Caballero is not on my agenda. I respect him, and he is a good champion. He has the glory of having taken my unbeaten record, but at this time as a champion I'm taking a different path. I'm not asking for a rematch, I will continue on my own path to write my own story. In addition, he was the one who won. He can continue to enjoy his triumph of 2005 and his new title and I can explore better options in boxing," Ponce said.
